They are covered in microscopic hairs, and if disturbed, will release them into the air, so if you are near them, these very small hairs can touch you, If they do, you will within 20 seconds begin to scratch as red blotches begin to appear, the more you scratch, the more it will spread over your body. Be careful though as extreme care must be taken not to causes tiny scratches called sleeks.
